Leftside Creative is a new talent agency representing some of the best men’s hair stylists and groomers in the UK. With clients spanning haute couture fashion brands, style-defining magazines and high-street labels, they needed a brand identity and website appealing to both markets to attract the art directors and editors they’d be working with, as well as showing off the immensely skilled artists on their roster.
I created a simple typographic logo that uses two very different typefaces to represent Leftside’s varying clients - from the catwalk to commercial.
With a subtle nod to the fashion industry, I also made the logo into a pattern which is used as a background on the website to tie everything together and give a unique feel. The colours of the brand have been limited to black and white so as not to compete with the vast portfolio of images from the artists and give them maximum standout.

With the images making up the main part of the website, the biggest challenge was creating an irregular layout, which was specifically requested by the client. They didn’t want the site to feel too modular and boring, and they also wanted to be able to integrate video to add movement.
As well as the irregular layout of the images, I created a vertical navigation to further emphasise the unconventional design of the website and appeal to Leftside’s intended audience. The whole site has been created to make it super easy for Leftside’s team to update and add more projects and artists as they go, utilising a user-friendly content management system that they can access and control themselves.
